Private Source (Wells, Springs, and Cisterns) Drinking Water Clinic in Botetourt County.
Affordable water testing and education information about water quality and private water supply system care and maintenance will be offered for citizens through the Virginia Cooperative Extension offices in Botetourt County. Water samples collected by participants will be analyzed for 14 parameters, including total coliform bacteria, E. coli, pH, lead, arsenic, copper, nitrate and hardness at a cost of $49.
Botetourt Cooperative Extension will hold a kick off meeting for anybody wishing to participate on February 5, 2013. The kick off meeting will be a short informational meeting to hand out collection bottles and instructions; this meeting will be held at the Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department at 7:00pm. Samples will be collected February 6, 2013 between 7:00a.m. – 9:00a.m. at the Botetourt County Extension office. The results and Interpretation meeting will be held March 5, 2013 at 7:00pm at the Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department. All information is kept strictly confidential and results are reported only to the homeowner.
