Attention: Commission of the Revenue sends tax info reminder notices

Important Tax information notices:

  • Business License Applications & Renewals due by March 1.  (Per Botetourt County Code Sec. 23-216, every person engaging in the county in any business, trade, profession, occupation, or calling, unless otherwise exempted by law, shall apply for a license for each such business.)
  • Business Tangible Personal Property/Machinery & Tools Returns due by April 15 for every business located in Botetourt County.
  • Application for Real Estate Tax Relief for the Qualified Elderly or Permanently Disabled Property Owners due by May 1.
  • When a person buys or sells a motor vehicle ( cars, trucks, motorcycles, motor homes, RV’s, etc.), boats, trailers, or other taxable personal property, the person is required to notify the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office within thirty (30) days of the change of ownership.  In addition to notifying the DMV, you need to contact the Commissioner of the Revenue with the change to make sure your tax record is accurate.
