Club baseball and softball at CAMS introduced, Honor Roll changes in Botetourt County to include 3rd grade

The Botetourt County School board held a regular meeting on Feb. 14. No new budget information for the 2013-14 budget was available.
Parents from Central Academy Middle School came to ask for organized baseball and softball clubs at the school. They are to bring back a plan for the next meeting. The parents who spoke were Edward Nelson, Scott Miller and Joe Lackey all from the Fincastle area.
After the school board calendar approval, it can be noted school will begin on August 21, 2013. Winter break will last from the end of the day Dec 20 through January 3 and School will end on June 11, 2014.
CCAP update is that 17 students have already applied for the positions at Virginia Western. Students must meet financial aid standards in order to attend the school for free.
For the first time in ions the honor roll policy has changed. With a vote from the school board, third grade will now be included in honor roll. Two different levels will remain, A-B honor roll and A honor roll.
The Youth Risk Behavior Survey is scheduled for March of 2013.
BTECH FFA horticulture students Charlie Gozzo, Jessica Powell and Abigail Underwood brought flowers for the school board members in recognition of National School Board Appreciation month. FFA from CAMS also came and presented potted plants to the members.
The next regular meeting of the school board will take place on March 14.
