Department of Emergency Services announces Community Outreach CPR and First Aid programs

Fincastle, VA – CPR and First Aid can be lifesaving in the event of an emergency at home, work, or in the community. In an effort to educate citizens, Botetourt County Emergency Services is hosting multiple CPR and First Aid courses. These courses will be held on weeknights and weekdays at the Fincastle Fire Station.

In the event of a sudden cardiac arrest, the statistical chance of survival decreases by 10% for every minute without the immediate intervention of CPR by a trained layperson or medical provider. Those who remain in cardiac arrest sustain irreversible brain death within 4-6 minutes. You can make the difference between life and death!

If you or someone you know is interested in learning lifesaving skills, please visit www.yourbces.org or contact Nathan Herlocker at (540) 473-8403 or nherlocker@botetourt.org to register for one of the CPR or CPR and First Aid courses being held at the Fincastle Fire Station on the dates listed below.
