Free horse seminar March 17
The South West Virginia Dressage Association is offering an exciting day of horse demonstrations and talks Sunday, March 17th beginning at Flanagan Stables 1818 Flanagan Drive, Christiansburg (I-81 Exit 114 and Route 8). Registration is at 8:30 and the program begins at 9AM.
Team Roping competitor Rex Brown will discuss “The Roping Horse” and demonstrate training techniques unique to this exciting Western discipline. Learn how to throw a rope loop in the audience participation segment.
The Mt. Tabor Vaulters will entertain with a spectacular performance of gymnastics on cantering and trotting horses followed by a presentation on Vaulting as a good foundation for all equestrians.
Gabrielle Hooten will introduce Western riders to the new sport of Western dressage. She will explain how it differs from classical dressage and what the two have in common. All SWVADA schooling shows for 2013 offer Western dressage classes.
Popular clinician Harriet Peterson will discuss the new USDF Rider Tests and using the dressage arena corners to dramatically improve your test scores.
Local equine veterinarian T. Kent Adams will speak on “Equine Dentistry: From Birth to Girth and Beyond”.
It’s going to be a fun day. Dress for the weather and bring a chair. Lunch and refreshments will be available on site. Be sure to register for door prizes. Great bargains can be found at the all day used tack sale.
