Great Backyard Bird count is this week end spend a half hour counting the birds in your backyard.

Cornell University sponsors an annual bird count to see the bird populations  Here in the US  every year hundreds of Botetourt Countians count birds. To get a tally sheet, go to the GBBCwebsite. Register for an account on Feb 14. Plenty of tips for identifying and counting birds are available also on the site.

Last year in Botetourt over 40 species were spotted with Blue Ridge, Troutville and Buchanan leading the county  with bird counters.
