New York man arrested after high-speed pursuit through Botetourt County
A New York man lead the Virginia State Police on a forty-four mile chase this morning around 10:35 am that started on Interstate 81 southbound at the 160 mile post in Botetourt County and ended in Montgomery County at the 124 mile post. A 2003 Ford Ranger pick up was clocked by radar doing 87 mph in a posted 70 mph posted zone and refused to pull over for the trooper which lead to a three county chase. The driver of the pick up Alexander Norman Levine, age 24, of Monticello, New York was charged with Felony Elude police, Reckless driving by speed and suspend operators license. Levine is currently being held without bond in the Botetourt County jail. The Virginia State Police were assisted by the Roanoke County and Christiansburg Police Departments.
