The International Christian Centers for the Deaf held their annual Evening of Elegance on Sat Feb. 23, at Fincastle Baptist Church. Over 250 people attended the gourmet dinner event to showcase and fund the deaf missions in the US, Cuba and Mexico. The mission is committed to make a meaningful and significant impact in the lives of the 70 million deaf around the world. ICCD’s Tom and Mitchell Turner gave short talks on the mission of ICCD which is head quartered in Cloverdale.
Rev. Efrain Escorza was keynote speaker and is the director of the Mexico mission. ” What we can do for these deaf children is incredible,” he said, “God is at work.” He used a power point with several of the clients at the school in Rio Bravo, Mexico to tell the poignant story of being deaf in the third world.
Sherry Anne Lints a partially deaf singer performed for the crowd as did a local group of young ladies who signed a song during the night. A love offering, silent and live auctions also raised funds.
