Spring Photography Classes at the Greenfield Education & Training Center

Learn to see the world with a photographer’s eye!  The Greenfield Center in Daleville will offer three photography courses this spring.  All classes taught by Steven Norris, an on-location, natural-light photographer who has served the greater Roanoke, New River Valley and Smith Mountain Lake areas of Southwest Virginia for 20 years.

Basic SLR Photography

This popular class is designed to help the beginning photographer learn how to effectively operate their cameras and take better pictures. The class will teach participates how to maximize their camera’s potential with instruction on basic settings, lighting, and composition.  Any digital camera with manual capabilities is welcome but a 35mm Digital SLR (with at least one interchangeable lens) is preferred. Must provide own camera (user manual is also helpful).

Class Details:  Tuesdays, March 5 – April 9, 2013

Time: 6:30 – 8:30pm

Cost: $95 per student

Portrait Photography

Participants will acquire the basic knowledge to use a digital SLR Camera for portraits and will gain an understanding of lighting patterns used in portraiture. Students will learn about the quality of light and different lighting styles for in the studio and on location. Additionally, students will become acquainted with some basic rules of portrait composition and be introduced to an array of lighting accessories and tools that can dramatically improve their portrait photography. A sturdy tripod is recommended.

Class Details:  Wednesdays, March 6 – April 10, 2013

Time: 6:30 – 8:30pm

Cost: $95 per student (Class size is limited)

Introduction to Adobe Lightroom Software for Photographers

Learn the basics about what is fast becoming the Low cost, Photo-Editing and Organization software tool of choice for most photographers. Students will learn how to import, organize, and non-destructively edit all of their digital photos as they become acquainted with the details of each of Lightroom’s five separate modules.

Students need to have an understanding of Basic Photography, and a laptop running Windows Vista, 7, XP, or Mac OSX v10.5 or 10.6 with available storage space and at least 3GB RAM and 1GB available hard-disk space. Students will need to bring a laptop to class.

Class details:   Thursdays, March 7 – April 25, 2013

Time: 6:30 – 8:30pm

Cost: $125 per student (Class size is limited)
