This past spring, the League for Animal Protection in Fincastle broke ground on a project that would greatly benefit volunteers, visitors and animals alike. The LAP is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter that is currently home to 42 cats and dogs, and the recently completed renovations have made it much easier to feed, clean, and visit with the animals. The LAP replaced all the concrete around the shelter, has new drains and a new, paved sidewalk to the entry gate, thanks to an extremely gracious grant. The addition of the concrete wall has also made it possible to easily and safely have two rotations of dogs in the yard at once to play and run around. Not only aesthetically pleasing, but I think both people and pups would agree that the renovations are absolutely worth it.
The LAP will be participating in the Fourth Annual Botetourt Chamber Putt-Putt Classic on Thursday, September 5. The fee is $50.00 per team of two, which includes one round of putt-putt, a meal and a goody bag. The registration deadline is August 26, and forms are available at the LAP Shelter or you can call the Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce at 473-8230 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
