Kyle Walker, local pianist, recently made his debut performance at Carnegie Hall in New York.
Kyle’s piano performances have been featured throughout various media broadcasts, including Public Radio East and UNC-TV.
Highlights of the 2012-2013 season include a solo performance with the East Carolina University Symphony Orchestra, as well as 1st Prize in the 2013 Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition.
Kyle participates in festivals such as the Tibor Varga Music Festival in Sion, Switzerland, The Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival, The Beethoven Institute in New York City, and PianoFest in the Hamptons, NY.
Kyle graduated this spring from East Carolina University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in music performance, with a minor in communications and a minor in voice, and was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior Award in Keyboard Performance. Kyle is also a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts high school.
Along the way he has earned numerous competitions and awards. Going from his ECU commencement one week to a Carnegie Hall solo debut the next is quite an accomplishment.
One of Kyle’s professors states, “in spite of all of this success, and perhaps most astonishing of all, this student is humble and unassuming.”
Kyle will attend graduate school at Mannes College of Music in New York City this fall. He currently resides in Daleville with his parents, Keith and LaVerne Walker.
