Early cabin museum opens for groups by appointment

earlyblog.JPG

Looking for something to do close to home? Get a group of friends together and take a tour of Historic Fincastle and visit the Early Cabin in the town. The museum is no longer open on weekends except by appointment.

Currently, the Fincastle Museum has a display called the “Schools of Fincastle” from the private schools of the 18th century to the free, public schools of today. Also in this exhibit are photos of early businesses in the town of Fincastle. Unfortunately, because of the low turnout during the weekends when the museum has been opened, exhibits will now be available only on days when scheduled Fincastle town tours are held by the Tour Committee of Historic Fincastle, Inc. To schedule a tour or to obtain available dates and additional information, contact Cassandra Bulmer at 473-1004.

erruitanblog.JPG

The Eagle Rock Ruritan Club just raised $2,100 for a community member through a chicken BBQ dinner and that is just one of the many projects the Ruritan Club does in the Eagle Rock area.

Members are sought to increase the roll for the club. At last night's regular June meeting in the Eagle Rock fire and rescue squad building, the group noted everything they have done this spring -- volunteer work, environmental work, support for The National D-Day Memorial plus a trip there on June 6, 2008 for the ceremony and the chicken dinner.
