Best Line ever: "I straighten my hair because I am serious," Casey July 27, 2007Radford Dean of StudentsTwo candidates hoping to be Radford University's new Dean of Students visited campus this week, and a third will be in town next on Friday. The dean hones in on student conduct and works closely with the Student Government Association, among other duties. The candidates have met with search committee members and taken part in forums open to the university community. Students, staff and faculty received an e-mail announcing the candidate vettings. At least one student government representative said she'd get the chance to interview applicants via phone. But, she was waiting for them to contact her, and had yet to talk with anyone. The university won't announce the names to the general public, though. The hopeful would follow Michael Mardis, who left the school earlier this month to take a similar job at the University of Louisville A university spokesman said they were hoping to hire someone by Sept. 1 after more than 40 applicants filed for the job beginning June 30. The position is rolling, though, and applications were accepted until someone is hired. So, what do you want to see out of your Dean? Let us know, and maybe we'll pass it on to him or her. The ZBZ girls hosted a "military mixer" with the Omega Chis (with pledge Calvin's hard-core interest hinting that he might outed soon). July 20, 2007Changes to Facebook?Facebook has announced its purchase of little-known company Parakey. What this means for the social-networking site, or its users, is not certain. But, most tech-savvy folks are pointing to positive new routes for Facebook. It's already the fastest-growing site of its type. Facebook was started by Mark Zuckerberg while he was an undergrad at Harvard and Parakey by Blake Ross and Joe Hewitt, two of the creators of the Firefox browser. Hewitt and Ross hope that they'll make people's lives easier and simplify some of the common computer applications, according to their Web site. The pair calls their product, "a Web operating system that can do everything an OS can do." That could mean better sharing technologies, too.. Some people have reported that the Parakey would allow offline access to web applications. That doesn't necessarily mean you won't need an Internet connection, though. We'll keep an eye out. Here’s the breakdown … Geeky wanna-be frat boy Rusty Cartwright hopes to boost his dull life by joining a fraternity. His sister, “it” sorority girl Casey is poised to take over her Greek organization, Zeta Beta Zeta. Of course, Casey’s current beau (Evan) and ex (Cappie) each rules their respective frats, Omega Chi and Kappa Tau. The premiere of ABC Family’s new “dramedy” leaves us with a burning question. Which one will offer the geeky brother a bid? July 5, 2007"Greek" TV showCollege. It’s a rush. At least that’s what ABC family wants you to believe. It’s the tagline for its new series, "Greek, " which premieres Monday night at 9. The new show follows the lives of Greeks, wanna-be Greeks and your average college stereotypes at a fake university.
