July 25, 2006New Virginia Tech web site set to debut
I spoke today with Mike Dame, Virginia Tech's director of web communications about Tech's new web site set to go public Monday.
Dame's office built the new site from scratch. With the tangled mass of links that was the university's web site, the project, which took over six months to complete, was more like building 13 different, interconnected web sites. "If I had to estimate the number of hours put into it, it would have to be in the thousands," Dame said. The site has been available to people within the university community since July 11. Dame said he's received positive feedback so far. After taking a look at it this morning, I can see why. The old site, with its dearth of photos, white background and lists of links isn't nearly as user friendly as the new site. But I'm curious to know what you think. If you're a student, staff or faculty, you can give the site a look. Post your thoughts on our blog or contact me with your thoughts: greg.esposito@roanoke.com or 381-1675. |
