August 21, 2006Returning to normal?Police arrested William Morva at 3:40 p.m. Monday But I'm curious about how students are feeling now. Do Blacksburg and the campus seem as safe as they did before? Is there something that the community and university could learn from this trying and tragic day? And what about parents out there? Tech spokesman Larry Hincker said he had received calls from parents concerned about their children. I suspect many of those parents were of freshmen who would have attended their first college classes today. Have your fears been assuaged? Let us know what you think. |

William Morva was a very close friend of mind. I can say with absolute certainty that he is one of the most beautiful, kind-hearted individuals I have ever had the privilege of knowing. His nature has never been malicious and cruel. The events that have occured are indeed tragic, yet I would like to remind everyone that even good people are capable of doing bad things.
This man left an impact on my life that is so incredibly positive. I learned a lot from him, laughed with him, loved him. What saddens me the most is the fact that no one will ever look at William again as anything but a criminal.
Please do not view him as such. He has a good heart. I want you to realize the good in him, just as I do. It is genuine.
