Va. Tech probable starters: F Dorian Finney-Smith (5.4 ppg), F Jarell Eddie (9.7 ppg), C Victor Davila (7.5 ppg), G Marquis Rankin (2.4 ppg), G Erick Green (16 ppg).
Clemson probable starters: F Devin Booker (10.9 ppg), F Bryan Narcisse (3.2 ppg), G Tanner Smith (11.2 ppg), G T.J. Sapp (4.6 ppg), G Andre Young (13.6 ppg).
Notes: Clemson hasn’t played since Tuesday, but this will be Tech’s second game in less than 48 hours. In two weeks, Tech will again play on a Thursday and Saturday. “We’re not going to use a turnaround game as an excuse,” coach Seth Greenberg said. “They play turnaround games in the Big East all the time — Saturday-Monday. Usually it’s the same for both teams, which probably makes sense for a more level playing field. Our league thinks a level playing field is if you have a turnaround game, at least the second one’s at home. I’m not sure I agree with that.” … Tech has lost four straight home games — its worst home skid since losing 5 straight home games in 2001-02 — but its next three home games are against fellow also-rans Clemson, Boston College and Georgia Tech. … If the Hokies loses today, it would be the first time they have owned a 1-7 league mark in the Greenberg era.
