I’ve been gone a long time but I have to ask if anybody else notices that SG NEVER sits on a bench. Rarely, if ever, talks to his assistants during a game. SG is the king and smacks of selfishness and a total controlling….coach. Could be why the assistants always leave.

If players and recruits leave, VT’s Jim Weaver has botched it again.

with VT AD’s. I’m guessing a quick hire by this Friday and like all of your picks but James Johnson.

Ah the stench of Greenberg is lifting from the NRV (first RU, now VT). He should have been canned 2 years ago for doing zip with all that talent! You can handle arrogance if it gets you the trophy, but he did little with an ACC program. Maybe your brother Brad can get you a job in Brazil, Cuba or whatever foreign country he’s slinking around in now.

VT should consider hiring Billy Hicks and his staff at Cave Spring HS. I’m serious! Those guys have been together forever and can coach as well as anyone at any level. Proven winners.

Hear it here first. Miami’s Jim Larranaga would move to Blacksburg from Miami if asked. He’d move by week’s end. He went to Miami for the ACC, not Miami. He fits (in a Boy Scout cheesy way) perfectly into the Blacksburg Beamerball culture like nobody else in college basketball. The Hokie Nation would love him and vice versa. And he can recruit well immediately. He also is a proven tireless program saleman, completely loyal to the cause. He’d completely pay for himself. Don’t dismiss, even if he claims “no” at first. It would be a perfect mutual fit and at a reasonable price. Departing Asst Coach James Johnson (ex-Larranaga key assistant) also back in play with such a move.

Except for flopping around on the bench when he figured a call went against Tech he did a great job. How can any coach in the ACC compete against Duke, N Carolina and now Florida State except for an occasional great game. If you had ACC talent would you enroll at UVA or Tech? NO NO you would not.
