NCAA declares Maryland’s Wells eligible

Big ACC news today with the NCAA reversing a previous decision and letting former Xavier starting guard Dez Wells play for Maryland this season.

Wells had transferred and was hoping not to have to sit out this year. With the former A-10 all-rookie pick becoming eligible, Maryland has a much better shot at an NCAA bid. Wells averaged 9.8 points last season.

Good decsion by the NCAA. Yes, Wells was expelled by Xavier over a sexual assault allegation. But the grand jury declined to indict him and the prosecutor actually spoke favorably about Wells. So this was a legally innocent person that should get to play right away, despite the expulsion by his former school.
