Rankin won’t play today
Virginia Tech backup point guard Marquis Rankin, who has had two deaths in his family this week, will not play against ETSU today.
That means Tech will have just seven scholarship players to use in today’s opener. Point guard Erick Green might play all 40 minutes.
Whether Rankin will rejoin the team for Monday’s game is not yet known.
