BC-Tech preview capsule
Coming in tomorrow’s Roanoke Times and on the website, my visit at High Point with former Va. Tech basketball player Allan Chaney. For now, here’s a preview of tomorrow’s BC game.

Notes: Tech has lost three straight games by at least 23 points for the first time ever. This is the first time since 1936-37 that Tech has lost three straight by at least 20 points. … Tech has allowed more than 90 points in back-to-back games for the first time since 1990-91. … BC is coming off a 78-73 loss to nationally ranked North Carolina State. … Rahon, who had 24 points in a win over Dartmouth and 18 against State, is the ACC freshman of the week. … BC has also lost to the College of Charleston, Bryant and Harvard, among others. … Tech has shot worse than 40 percent from the field in five of the past six games. Tech has shot worse than 30 percent from 3-point range in each of the past six games. “We’re not making those shots now, so the lack of rebounding and the lack of defense is being manifested,” Tech coach James Johnson said. “If the offense is not working for us, we’ve got to do a better job on the defensive end and rebounding the basketball, which we’re not doing. … We can’t seem to find the basket.”

I’m looking forward to the Chaney story. That young man has a really rough go of it and I wish him nothing but the best.
