If you haven’t read my feature on Erick Green’s rise to being the D-I scoring leader in today’s paper or online, here is the link:

And don’t forget to follow me on Twitter during the game — @BermanRoanoke — for observations, stats and updates on tonite’s UVa game.

Marshall Wood might return to action tonight, which would help the Hokies. James Johnson said yesterday that there is a chance Wood will play vs. the Cavs, although yesterday he had not yet been cleared to play.

And you can come back to this blog before you go to bed tonite to read my game story.

Always enjoy your articles about Hokie basketball, and especially the one about Erick Green. I still wonder why the Hokies come up shorthanded almost every year as far as scholorship players! You look at other benches and there will be 10 players plus the 5 on the court. I remember Seth complaining that he didn’t have 10 players so they could have 2 teams to practice. I know we have injuries, but others do also.

    That would be scholarship.

Hokies stinking it up against UVA in the first half. Started off with some of the most god-awful shots you’ll ever see in college basketball, Green surged and then UVA got hot and VT was NOT. Even missing big at the FT line. I really miss Seth on the court. After some of the shots taken a couple guys deserved an @$$ chewing. Have to credit UVA’s defense which has been incredible – definitely putting on a defensive clinic.

Painful to watch and at home no less. Going to be really hard to come back against UVA’s stingy defense.

    Green is our only chance.

Jarrell Eddie 1 for 8 in the first half – seems like he and Robert Brown take turns being terrible. Robert Brown is 0-2, at least he’s not shooting.

If only Erick had some help, we would have a pretty good team. Fouls, turnovers, and missed shots leads to a big loss.

Erick 35 points: rest of the team 23 points!

    Berman,

It’s time to start calling this team out. Jarrell Eddie and Robert Brown take turns being 2-11, 2-12, 3-9, 4-15, 2-11, 2-12. And many of these misses are bad shots, not just misses.
Time to start calling out the coach too, this team is not ready to play, terrible defense, numerous stupid turnovers. This is the worst team to play at VT since Ricky Stokes was the coach. It’s time for you people in the media to step up and stop accepting excuses about injuries, short benches, the flu and “flu-like symptoms”.
Erick Green is pouring his heart out there and we’ve got guys throwing up junk like this was a playground game.

Who cares about leading the nation in scoring when you can’t win? Also last night he got 10 rebounds for the FIRST TIME in his career. That’s pathetic. Yeah he’s a good shooter but all around not an impressive player.
