Va. Tech probable starters: F Jarell Eddie (14.6 ppg), F C.J. Barksdale (5.2 ppg), C Cadarian Raines (6.7 ppg), G Erick Green (24.6 ppg), and either G Robert Brown (10.6 ppg) or G Marquis Rankin (2.6 ppg).

Ga. Tech probable starters: F Marcus Georges-Hunt (10.9 ppg), F Robert Carter (9.9 ppg), C Daniel Miller (7.4 ppg), G Brandon Reed (5.6 ppg), G Mfon Udofia (9.9 ppg).

Notes: Weekend games on the ACC’s syndicated network usually air on WDBJ, but this one has been moved to the local Fox affiliate because of a conflict with CBS’ NFL coverage. … On Thursday, Green was one of 25 players named to the midseason list of candidates for the Wooden Award, which goes to the national player of the year. Also Thursday, he was named one of 20 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, which goes to the point guard of the year. … This is the first season for Georgia Tech’s new 8,600-seat, $50 million arena. It is located where the team’s former arena stood, and has the same dome. The Yellow Jackets played their home games off campus last season because of the construction. … The Yellow Jackets lost 62-49 to visiting Miami last weekend and fell 83-70 at N.C. State on Wednesday. … The Hokies, on a four-game skid, are allowing an average of 75.3 points. They entered Monday ranked 314th out of 345 Division I schools in scoring defense. … Brown missed the Hokies’ game Wednesday with a fever.

    A focus on defense, both of 3 pt shooters and interior scoring, would be desirable. A focus on level of intensity in play would be desirable. A focus on ball movement and increased tempo would be desirable.

    I smell another choke job by the chokies and thus the motto stays true:
    “Uh, we only have 7 scholorship players!!”

    This could be the first half of a two game winning streak, if… the players are focused for 40 minutes. If they come out in a fog, then they’ll lose a golden opportunity for an ACC win. It would be nice to see Coach Johnson get the first notch on his ACC belt.
