On Selection Sunday, I turned in my All-America ballot to The Associated Press.
The results won’t be announced until Final Four week, but here is who I voted for.
For coach of the year, I went with Miami’s Jim Larranaga, who steered the surprising Hurricanes to a sweep of the ACC regular season and tournament titles and a top-10 ranking.
For player of the year, I went with Michigan point guard Trey Burke, the Big Ten player of the year.
Burke was on my All-America first team, as was Kelly Olynyk of Gonzaga, the West Coast Conference player of the year; Otto Porter of Georgetown, the Big East player of the year; Doug McDermott of Creighton, the Missouri Valley player of the year; and Marcus Smart of Oklahoma State, the Big 12 player of the year.
My second team featured Jeff Withey of Kansas, Victor Oladipo of Indiana and a trio of ACC players — Erick Green of Virginia Tech, Shane Larkin of Miami and Mason Plumlee of Duke.
My third team featured Cody Zeller of Indiana, Deshaun Thomas of Ohio State, Ben McLemore of Kansas, Nate Wolters of South Dakota State and Pac 12 player of the year Allen Crabbe of Cal.
