VT-Duke preview capsule

I’ll have a story on the return of Duke’s Ryan Kelly and how he makes Duke better in tomorrow’s paper and online tomorrow, but for  now here is the preview capsule:

Men’s basketball

Tuesday

Virginia Tech at No. 3 Duke

7 p.m. at Cameron Indoor Stadium

Records: Va. Tech 13-16, 4-12 ACC); Duke 25-4, 12-4.

TV: ESPNU

Last meeting: Duke won 88-56 at Tech on Feb. 21.

Va. Tech probable starters: F Jarell Eddie (11.9 ppg), F C.J. Barksdale (5.8 ppg), C Cadarian Raines (6.7 ppg), G Robert Brown (8.9 ppg), G Erick Green (25 ppg).

Duke probable starters: F Mason Plumlee (17.1 ppg, 10.3 rpg), F Ryan Kelly (14.8 ppg), G Seth Curry (16.9 ppg), G Quinn Cook (12.5 ppg), G Rasheed Sulaimon (12 ppg).

Notes: Curry had 22 points and five 3-pointers in last month’s meeting. He didn’t cool down until Tech coach James Johnson assigned Green to guard him. But Johnson does not want Green to guard Curry too much tonight because he wants Green saving his energy for the offensive end. … Duke shot 53.6 percent from the field and sank 12 3-pointers in last month’s meeting. … Tech shot 54.8 percent from the field in last weekend’s win over Clemson, its best percentage since a Nov. 2011 game against Monmouth. … Barksdale is 20 of 28 from the field and 17 of 19 from the free-throw line the past four games. … Green has scored 726 points this year, good for second on the Tech single-season list. Bimbo Coles had 785 in 1989-90. … Eddie is shooting just 24.5 percent from the field (14 of 57) the past eight games. … Brown had been in a long slump but is shooting 54 percent (13 of 24) the past three games. “I am turning a corner,” Brown said. “I’m getting better, getting more confident.”

So the chokies come off a win behind the one man offense and with help from the sorry bench!!! Tonights game gets deeper and thus the loyal over hyped chokies will lose at least by 25pts!! Go Chokies!!!
