Off-guard Justin Bibbs of national high school basketball power Montverde Academy in Florida told me tonight he has orally committed to Virginia Tech.
Bibbs, a senior, plans to sign with Tech this fall. He said he picked Tech over Xavier, Rhode Island, Central Florida and Dayton, among others.
“It’s a great fit for me,” he said. “I love the campus.”
Bibbs spent the first two years of high school playing for Chaminade Julienne High School in his hometown of Dayton before transferring to Montverde, which is in the Orlando area.
Montverde won the 2013 National High School Invitational tournament.
Bibbs (6-5, 190) said he is an “all-around” player.
“I’m a guy who can dribble, shoot, pass, rebound. I can do a lot of things, play defense. I don’t have a problem passing. I really get going in a fast-paced game — catch the ball on the wing on the fast break,” he said.
