I covered the Va. Tech women’s soccer game vs. Duke today, so you can find that link at the end of this post as well as the link to Randy King’s story on the men’s basketball game today; he pinch hit for me covering hoops since I had the women’s soccer game.
It was not in Randy’s game story, but if you want to know why Raines did not play at all (after playing just 3 min. Tuesday), here is what James Johnson had to say about the situation, quotes courtesy of Randy:
Johnson: “Those guys right now are producing. I thought Joey played a good game, even though his stats don’t show (it), but defensively and rebounding I thought he did a good job. And Trevor Thompson gives us a shot-blocking force in there. And C.J. Barksdale was playing so well that I went with him a little bit. They [Radford] were undersized so I went with him at the 5 and Marshall Wood at the 4 because Marshall has been playing well and I wanted to get both of those guys on the floor.
“Cadarian is going to play for us, he had a really good practice [Thursday]. But right now with the matchups and the way these guys are playing, some guys in front of him are playing really well now. If he continues to respond like he did in practice [Thursday], that’s a pretty dagoone good sign, but so did those other guys.”
