Floyd's John Two Ponies has died

From Floyd bluesman Scott Perry:

>JTP RIP

>The Floyd Music Community lost a talented, mercurial figure last weekend. I may be one of the only Floyd musicians to have never played in the John Two Ponies Band, but I was a fan and admirer. Some of the most memorable evenings I ever spent as host of the Pine Tavern Open Mic involved John. He leaves behind a wife and two young children. Donations are being accepted to assist with covering his funeral costs and to assist the widow and children. Megan (cutNscratch note: Megan Ihlefeld is his wife), is also collecting remembrances about John for their young children.

>If you'd like to make a contribution to assist John's family or send a remembrance to be collected for his children, contact his widow, Megan Ihlefeld at mihlefeld@hollins.edu. You can send a check to Megan at 321 Grace Ln., Riner, VA 24149.

Bill Hudson : →http://Bill-Hudson.com

I remember John when I first met him a few years ago at the open mike at The Pine Tavern. He told me at the time he was building a surf shop in Floyd and was getting ready for the big flood by way of some who was thinking this might really happen. At the time I was thinking about how Noah building his ark. There might have been a few people who told him he was a fool. So I looked at John like he was kind of nuts but he had a story to tell me and I am a sucker for a good story. At some other time I remember showing up at The Pine Tavern for the open mike and John came right up to me and asked me, “Bill, do you want to lead or follow?” I said, “I’ll lead.” Knowing when John shows up it’s gonna be fun, well what the hell. So we cut up the dance floor, funny as hell. I’ll be seeing you Brother on the other side. Still Pickin’ Bill Hudson
