Lynchburg musicians helping cancer-stricken colleague

From Sid Hagan, of the Purveyors: "Robbie Wells is a very well known musician in Lynchburg and throughout Central Virginia including the Roanoke Valley. Robbie was diagnosed with prostate cancer 7 weeks ago and like so many other full time artists has no health insurance."

Here's a news release Hagan sent me:

>Lynchburg Music Center and the Lynchburg Music Center Performance Venue is pleased to announce the first of three benefit concerts to help popular local musician Robbie Wells in his fight with Cancer.

>The first show will be Sunday July 20th at 1 PM in the Lynchburg Music Performance Venue.

>The performers will be The Gurleys, Tray Eppes, Robin Rich, Paul Brunett, Nizhmet, Fred Boyce, The Purveyors, The Wells Clan, and Dave Wells and Friends. It promises to be one of the finest acoustic music shows in recent memory. There will also be a silent auction of a fiddle and special guest appearances by other musicians.

>The tickets are $20.00 per person and are available exclusively at Lynchburg Music Center on Fort Avenue in Lynchburg (434-237-0073). Cash and check only. Tickets will be available right up till showtime unless there’s a sell out. All checks should be made out to “Robbie Wells”. Donations can also be made at any Bank Of America to: Robbie Wells FBO

>This show is expected to sell out so get your tickets soon.
