Toni Blackman to join Sisters of the Circle on Sunday at Jefferson Center
For several years, hip-hop ambassador Toni Blackman has been working with Sisters of the Circle, the Jefferson Center‘s after-school performing arts program for girls ages 14-18, including Roanoke’s refugee and immigrant population.
On Sunday, Blackman returns to town to help Sisters of the Circle present “We Are Here,” a free event happening at 1 p.m. in the Jeff Center’s Shaftman Performance Hall.
Blackman has helped the girls’ group put together performances about empowerment, and part of that is a video they shot at the Jeff. They’ll premiere the video, for a song called “I’m Here,” during the Sunday event.
