Barefoot West music will soon be on the Hallmark Channel, thanks to the movie “Lake Effects”

So, the movie “Lake Effects” will wind up on television. The Hallmark Channel will shoot screen the movie — shot at Smith Moutain Lake — at 8 p.m. on May 13 (Mother’s Day) May 19. I wouldn’t care one way or the other, except that means that local band Barefoot West‘s music will be heard by a relatively wide audience.

The Kyle Forry-led band appears in a scene shot at the bar formerly known as Fallon’s Restaurant. And Barefoot West’s music is playing through the entire scene, said Forry, who watched the movie in October, during its premiere at Westlake Cinema, in Moneta. The band’s music also ends the movie — “Rekindle” plays as the movie ends, then “You Are, You Are” accompanies the credits.

“It’s a trip, Man,” Forry wrote in an e-mail today. “I freaked out in the theater. It seemed ridiculous, the number of times our music plays throughout the film. They even used our music for the menu music on the DVD. It’s nuts, Dude. Never in a million years would have expected any of this.”

Click the player above to hear the Barefoot West songs that made the movie — “You Are, You Are,” “Rekindle” and “Perfect Storm.” The band plays twice next week — at 8 p.m. Friday at 419 West, and at 9 p.m. Friday at Brambleton Deli. Both shows are free.
