Americana afternoon has been a staple at Floyd Country Store for the past year or so. This weekend, they’re doing it Cash-style.

The theme of the performance/open mic event on Saturday is a Johnny Cash Birthday Bash. The late “Man In Black” would have been 80 on Feb. 26, but the store is celebrating early, with an afternoon of Cash music performed by locals. If you want to perform a couple of songs, sign up via heather@floydcountrystore.com or 745-7834.

The store will award prizes for best performance, duet and costume for either Johnny or June Cash. And the store will serve up some of Cash’s favorite foods Come hungry because we’ll be serving up some of Cash’s favorite foods. What are those? you might ask. Heather Krantz at the store replied to my query: “Chili, mac & cheese, fudge cake, applesauce cake and peanut butter cookies.” Sounds good to me!

The show is free and starts at noon.
