Music video — Elizabeth Cook performs ‘Girlfriend Tonight’ at Kirk Avenue Music Hall on Saturday

Elizabeth Cook

Elizabeth Cook is a very good songwriter with a killer, real, country voice — and a great sense of humor. I would like to have just made a video of all the funny stuff she said on Saturday at Kirk Avenue Music Hall. Instead, I got some funny lines she used to introduced her song “Girlfriend Tonight,” from the album “Welder.” She comes across as real as anyone I’ve seen take a stage around here.

Webb Wilder had played the night before Cook, and Paul Thorn played the night after, completing a trifecta of shows at Kirk Ave that rivaled any three-day period I have seen and heard on this beat. And all the shows were packed with folks, which was heartening, given some of the pathetic recent turnouts for high-octane shows.
