Music video — Sol & Funk Root, performing “Freedom” at Martin’s Downtown on Saturday night
Sol Creech, a former Franklin County boy, is a Martin’s Downtown regular with his band, Funk Root.
These guys don’t play together that often — well, that’s sort of a lie, because bassist Jake Dempsey and drummer George Penn Jr. play together frequently, though without Creech — but when they do, it sounds like they’ve been gigging nightly for years. But it’s still fresh.
Here are the cats at Martin’s, playing “Freedom.” I should note that this was on the same night that The Seed played its reunion show to a fairly packed house at Growler’s, but Sol & Funk Root still drew a more-than-respectable crowd, and the band gave the folks a nice show.
