Laid-back but intense, Folly Beach, S.C.’s Dangermuffin always plays interesting grooves. The band returned to Martin’s on Thursday night, on a short tour behind a fine new album, “Olly Oxen Free.”
Singer Dan Lotti, who has a really cool voice, brings bass notes and chord strums on his guitar, while guitarist/singer Mike Sivilli slings long, fluid guitar lines that sometimes go way intense. Drummer Steven Sandifer is a groove machine, delivering exactly what the song needs, often with a shaker or tambourine in one hand, a drumstick in the other, whacking the backbeat.
Here’s the band from last night at Martin’s, doing its reggae Folly Beach style on “Fuego,” during a quality set inside a very warm venue.
