A while back, Martin’s Downtown’s David Powers sent me mp3 files of the last recordings Chance Taylor did before he and his father, Randy, were killed in a car crash. The band is Drown The Messenger, and it’s like blues-rock with a dash of Lemmy Kilmister.

Here is the band, featuring singer David Snow, wailing at the Chance Taylor Memorial Show, Friday night at Martin’s Downtown.

Hear Drown The Messenger’s full set (songs 20-25), via Will Kesler’s recording at archive.org.

Note: At the end of the set, Taylor’s mother speaks, correcting the record about the proceeds of the show. I wrote in Top Tickets about the proceeds, based on pre-show publicity I had received. She said that instead, the money was going to causes that Chance Taylor was passionate about, related to music and skateboarding.

About this blog

cutNscratch is The Roanoke Times music blog. Music reporter Tad Dickens enjoys pickin' and grinnin' and drummin', and he likes to write about music, too. He'll post plenty about local, regional and national music, but it won't be any fun at all if you don't jump in and have your say. So do it!
