Music video — The Aurora Observatory, headlining last Friday’s Chance Taylor Memorial Show at Martin’s Downtown

Of all the bands that Chance Taylor played with, The Aurora Observatory is probably farthest outside the mainstream, something like Incubus minus the commercial aspirations. It’s not simple music to play, and it takes a beast to nail it on drums.

Fortunately, C.J. Giles from Human Infection was a student of Taylor’s work, having followed him onto the drum throne of several bands. Here he is with The Aurora Observatory, nailing it as the band opened its Chance Taylor Memorial Show headlining set last Friday at Martin’s Downtown Bar & Grill.

If anyone knows the name of this song, please tell me. Thanks! UPDATE: The two songs here are “Shattered Satellite” and “I’m Not Evil.” Thanks, Meagan I.!

About this blog

cutNscratch is The Roanoke Times music blog. Music reporter Tad Dickens enjoys pickin' and grinnin' and drummin', and he likes to write about music, too. He'll post plenty about local, regional and national music, but it won't be any fun at all if you don't jump in and have your say. So do it!
