Music video — The Pullouts, playing “The Future’s In Sleaze” at the Coffee Pot, from early July 15

The Pullouts has always been a really fun band to see and hear. But when the band added Omar Herd on drums, it became a grooving rock machine, too — just maybe the best rock band in town, particularly after several inexpensive libations. Definitely looking forward to new music from these guys. Till then, here’s an older number, “The Future’s In Sleaze,” which is one of the best rock songs written in Roanoke during my time here.

This was part of a three-band bill celebrating Pullout Bubba Webster’s birthday. Affliction Kid was mighty good, too, though I’m sorry to say I missed The Dichotomies. That’s OK, because that means I heard Johnny Winter at the Blue Ridge Blues & BBQ Fest (hoping to post that much less-intimate video soon). Next time, Dichotomies. Next time.

About this blog

cutNscratch is The Roanoke Times music blog. Music reporter Tad Dickens enjoys pickin' and grinnin' and drummin', and he likes to write about music, too. He'll post plenty about local, regional and national music, but it won't be any fun at all if you don't jump in and have your say. So do it!
