Tobacco Apache was one of several Roanoke Valley bands that lost a drummer the day Chance Taylor was killed in a car crash. Several of those acts — and a full house of folks — gathered at Martin’s Downtown last Friday to raise money for causes near to Taylor’s heart.

Note: During the show, Taylor’s mother spoke to correct the record about the proceeds of the show. I wrote in Top Tickets about the proceeds, based on pre-show publicity noting that the money would go to the Taylor family. She said that instead, the money was going to causes that Chance Taylor was passionate about.

Mason Jennelle of Electric Chameleon has joined up with Tobacco Apache, and he lays down a fine groove here on “She Don’t Like It,” complete with horn section and Jennelle’s EC bandmate, Paul Tressel on keys.

Among bands on the bill with videos coming up later today — Drown The Messenger, with whom Taylor did his last recording work, and The Aurora Observatory — acts that show the width and depth of Taylor’s groove skills.

Hear Tobacco Apache’s entire set, recorded by Will Kesler.
