Sara Watkins, Justin Townes Earle and Regina Carter are among the musical performers scheduled to play The Lyric Theatre’s 2012-2013 season.

Watkins, formerly of Nickel Creek, and her brother Sean Watkins have played Kirk Avenue Music Hall recently. At FloydFest last month, they performed as part of Sara Watkins’ own band, then later that day backed up Jackson Browne during his July 26 headlining set. That show is set for Oct. 12. Earle, another recent Kirk Avenue Music Hall performer, comes to The Lyric on Nov. 14, with opening act Tift Merritt, who played FloydFest three years back.

Suzanne Vega (March 1, 2013), Loudon Wainwright III (March 22, 2013) and violinist Carter (April 12, 2013) round out the season.

Theatrical performances, poetry reading, art and comedy are also part of the season’s lineup. The American Shakespeare Company performs “Love’s Labour Lost” on Sept. 14. Virginia Tech professor and nationally recognized poet Nikki Giovanni joins illustrator Chris Raschka perform on Sept. 20. And The Second City comedy troupe hits the stage on Feb. 1, 2013.

Tickets to the fall shows go on sale Aug. 17. Spring tickets go on sale Dec. 21. The Lyric is offering season tickets at 10 percent off the “face value” of each ticket. Visit the box office, call 951–4771 or go to thelyric.com for tickets.
