Here’s one that fell through the Top Tickets cracks — DJ Al-D’s Saturday Spin Cycle, featuring Built To Write

Roanoke based turntable man Alan “DJ Al-D” Dever has a monthly show at Awful Arthur’s downtown, and he’s made it a spot for guests. Among those who have joined him on the show are a Middle Eastern/fusion dance troupe and David “DJ Hoodie” Crossley.

This time out, Roanoke hip-hop group Built To Write joins Dever at Awful’s. The $3 show starts at 9:30 p.m.

Didn’t hear about this one until too late for Top Tickets, but it does provide a great excuse to stream a couple of tracks from Built To Write’s latest recording, “Make Marks.” So here we go, with “Piece of Pi” and “We In There,” the latter featuring Tre’Mendous and Poe Mack. Warning: Salty language.

About this blog

cutNscratch is The Roanoke Times music blog. Music reporter Tad Dickens enjoys pickin' and grinnin' and drummin', and he likes to write about music, too. He'll post plenty about local, regional and national music, but it won't be any fun at all if you don't jump in and have your say. So do it!
