OCTOBER
3rd- THE HOMEGROWN CONCERT SERIES FEATURING – THE JERRY WIMMER TRIO
5th- 4TH ANNUAL WHITE TRASH PARTY WITH MUSIC BY THE PAWN SHOPLIFTERS
It’s that time of year again when we up here at Towers get our White Trash on and party up in the trailer park. Come out dressed in your best White Trash garb and have a blast with us. The bar will be decorated just like a white trash household. Too much fun!
“If Hank Williams III, Billy Gibbons, James Hetfield, and the ghost of Ronnie Van Zant started a band, you might end up with a sound something like The Pawn Shop Lifters. ”
Sarah Shay – Brick Weekly Richmond, VA.
“this Hampton Roads trio, fuses equal parts rock, Americana and blues into dense guitar-driven anthems about the everyday life of the 21st century country boy. ”
Paul Shugrue – Out of the Box
“The Pawnshop Lifters have arrived and they brought a bottle of whiskey, a couple of shot glasses and all the attitude that only a mixture of old time rock and roll and outlaw country could create.”
Alfredo Torres – 24sevencities.com
6th- THE WORX
7TH- BENEFIT FOR JASON WATERBECK WITH MUSIC FROM THE MATERIA PROJECT
10TH- THE HOMEGROWN CONCERT SERIES FEATURING – HARDIN DRAW
The Hardin Draw started by accident and has been hard at work ever since. The Hardin Draw features current and/or ex-members of Forget Cassettes, Rwake, Today Is The Day, a Secret Policeman’s Ball, Red Planet, & Autumn Mourning
12TH-BAREFOOT WEST, THE FLOORBOARDS, AND MADRONE
13TH- ELECTRIC CHAMELEON AND BIULT TO WRITE
14TH- JACKIE GREENE
Jackie Greene has been performing and making records for over a decade. He tours with his own band and is a member of Phil Lesh and Friends and Trigger Hippy. Current projects include an acoustic trio with Bob Weir and Chris Robinson. He is 31 years old.
17TH- BADFISH- SUBLIME TRIBUTE
The phenomenon known as Sublime, arguably the most energetic, original and uniquely eclectic band to emerge from any scene, anywhere, ended with the untimely death of lead singer, guitarist and songwriter Brad Nowell in May of 1996. But encompassing the sense of place and purpose long associated with Sublime’s music, Badfish, a Tribute to Sublime continues to channel the spirit of Sublime with a fury not felt for some time. What separates Badfish from other tribute bands is that they have replicated Sublime’s essence, developing a scene and dedicated following most commonly reserved for label-driven, mainstream acts. Badfish make their mark on the audience by playing with the spirit of Sublime. They perform not as Sublime would have, or did, but as Badfish does!
18TH- Tony Lopacinski Memorial Concert
In January of 2011 Tony Lopacinski brought his songwriting friends from Nashville to do a sold out show at Court Square Theater. Tony lived in Harrisonburg for five years where his wife, Sarah Blose, grew up. He had been a local guitar player for the band Earth to Andy and then toured with the band Train for three years. In 2006, he moved to Nashville to pursue his dream of touring, writing, producing and having his family close to him at the same time. His group, Tailgate South, was just getting industry recognition in Nashville when in March of 2010, he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He continued to play music until just a few weeks before his death in June of 2011. The January show at Court Square was a memorable night of incredible music, storytelling, tears and laughter. Please join Sarah in welcoming Tony’s friends (and some new ones) back to Court Square to celebrate Tony’s life and his music
19TH- MEGAN JEAN AND THE KFB
Hard-touring, foot-stompin’, guitar beatin, upright lickin, washboard scratchin,’ banjo pickin’ madness with a voice like the devil herself.
Charleston, SC-based duo Megan Jean & the KFB arrange a demented blend of gypsy, circus, americana, and the avant-garde that has been freaking out audiences all over America! It’s a new-ish sound that’s all their own, and it must be seen to be believed! And
for the doubters, melt your hearts of ice, for a duo, yes a duo can rattle the rafters twice as nice! Salty road dogs for many years past, ask a believer and don’t be the last to know! It’s a helluva show!
After many miles, moons, monsters, and maladies-Megan Jean & The KFB have finally finished their first full-lenghth album entitled “Dead Woman Walkin,” recorded at Whylago Studios in Marietta Georgia by the incomparable, insatiable, and infectious BJ Richardson. It will be released on their own label, “Guts and Know How Records,” November 13th of 2010, with national tours in support.
