Franklin County-based After Jack has an interesting back story. The trio met at Blue Ridge Dinner Theatre, in Franklin, where they work as actors and musicians. They combined forces, began playing out and soon had a repertoire of bluegrass-style covers that includes Michael Jackson (“Black Or White”) and Lady Gaga (“Born The Way”).

The band — Mary Allison, Rachel Blankenship and Emily Rose Tucker– has original songs, too. Here’s one: After Jack plays “Bless Your Heart,” last Saturday at the Roanoke City Market.

As Simon Cowell would say….don’t quit your day job.

Thanks, Tad, great clip! I’ve seen Emily Rose performing at the BRDT, last in 2011′s “Radio Days”, and I know how fortunate we are to have her talents in our area. I look forward to hearing more from them.

About this blog

cutNscratch is The Roanoke Times music blog. Music reporter Tad Dickens enjoys pickin' and grinnin' and drummin', and he likes to write about music, too. He'll post plenty about local, regional and national music, but it won't be any fun at all if you don't jump in and have your say. So do it!
