Anna Roberts-Gevalt, co-host of the Floyd Radio Show, started talking about one of the acts booked for the show’s second season, she stopped for a one-liner when the name Alice Gerrard came up. Gerrard, a bluegrass and old-time music hero, is booked for the radio show’s Dec. 8 gig at Floyd Country Store.

“You hire your heroes, and then you make them do really dumb things,” Roberts-Gevalt said.

To illustrate, she talked about a faux commercial she and co-host Elizabeth LaPrelle had luthier/guitarist Wayne Henderson do. It was for a “business” called Wayne’s Remedial Punctuation Service, and Henderson’s role was to provide guitar versions of semi-colons, commas and the like.

It’s that kind of a show, and season two starts on Saturday. Read more about that and a couple of other cool Saturday shows, and click on the jump link below to see season schedule through December. The season ends in May.

About this blog

cutNscratch is The Roanoke Times music blog. Music reporter Tad Dickens enjoys pickin' and grinnin' and drummin', and he likes to write about music, too. He'll post plenty about local, regional and national music, but it won't be any fun at all if you don't jump in and have your say. So do it!
