Jamie McLean and his band — Ben Mars on bass and Brian Griffin on drums — is always a blues-rock machine. Over the past three or so years, with about two shows per year, the act has built up a nice following in Roanoke.

JMB stopped at Blue 5 last Saturday, after having played several Martin’s gigs and an opening slot for Dumpstaphunk at the former Awful’s Towers. The fans were in the room, and they got what they typically get from McLean’s band — a tight, driving show, with instrumental prowess, soul and monster guitar leads.

This video, of the song “I Got Low,” is a good example of what this trio brings.
