Concert update — Tony Rice won’t make the Bill Monroe tribute at Jefferson Center; Peter Rowan is still on the bill
Tony Rice has taken ill and has had to cancel his appearance on Friday night at Jefferson Center as part of the Celebrating 100 Years of Bill Monroe show.
A post at Rice’s facebook page earlier this week said that he is on “strict bed rest” and already had to cancel at least one show. Jefferson Center announced today that Rice will not be here on Friday.
Peter Rowan, however, will be onstage, according to Jeff Center spokesman Jeremy Butterfield, who added that he had received calls from people who thought that Rowan would not be there.
Subbing on guitar for the show will be Cody Kilby, a member of Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder. Kilby will join Rowan and backing band the Travelin’ McCourys.
The show is sold out.
