George Jones’ final tour will include Salem Civic Center on April 20; [update] tickets go on sale Nov. 23
“The Possum” is retiring after his 2012-13 tour, and that’s probably a good thing, truth be told. That classic country voice — one of the best of all time — has not for some time been what it once was. But George Jones has been gracious in answering questions about it.
Jones, who has performed frequently at Salem Civic Center, will make one last stop at the old shed. The show is scheduled for April 20. We’ll post more details as we get them.
UPDATED 5:26 p.m. 11. 16.12: Tickets $42.75. They go on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 23 at Salem Civic Center Box Office and Ticketmaster, or charge by phone via 800-745-3000.

Ahhh come on Tad of course he’s a novelty act at this point but I felt at the last Salem Civic Center show his voice was absolutely on point. He still has the same haunting quality he always had and can outperform most younger country artists. The fact that he is bringing Wilson Fairchild with him again is only the icing on the cake.
There were mixed opinions from readers about his performance last time. I missed that one, but I was there the time before. That one was rough. For the record, I’m rooting for him to have a great show. I’ll definitely be there. And Wilson Fairchild is a bonus.
