Sacred steel guitar music fans have had a heyday in recent months in Southwest Virginia. Roosevelt Collier of the Lee Boys played two nights in July with Ben Trout Band at Martin’s, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band headlines the Bick Lick Blues festival.

Add to that list of string-sliding goodness the Campbell Brothers (check the website for great streaming music), who will hit Jefferson Center on Feb. 22. Ticket prices and on-sale date are not yet available.

The Campbell Brothers were last in the region for FloydFest 5, and that was quite a while back. The act is scheduled for a Nov. 16 performance at Carnegie Hall, Lewisburg.

But in February, the Rochester, N.Y., band hits the Jeff with its two slide men — Chuck Campbell on pedal steel and his brother Darick Campbell on lap steel and vocals. Bassist Phil Campbell and his son, drummer Carl, put in the groove, while Katie Jackson and Denise Brown bring powerhouse vocal work.

About this blog

cutNscratch is The Roanoke Times music blog. Music reporter Tad Dickens enjoys pickin' and grinnin' and drummin', and he likes to write about music, too. He'll post plenty about local, regional and national music, but it won't be any fun at all if you don't jump in and have your say. So do it!
