It’s our second Tuesday of radio madness. Stream it at 101.5 The Valleys’s Music Place.

Tonight’s show features music from Janis Martin, the late Halifax County native who once had a shot at rock ‘n’ roll stardom before her career fizzled in a scandal that would barely make today’s tabloid radar. Read more about Martin and about “Virginia Rocks! The History of Rockabilly in the Commonwealth,” the two-CD collection that features her and other performers from that long-gone era.

And I’m tracking “Millions,” from the recent Eternal Summers album, “Correct Behavior.” Roanoke-based Eternal Summers is playing a series of (rare) Roanoke shows at The Bazaar next month. Get details.

1. Rev. Utah Smith – Two Wings – The Oxford American Southern Music Issue No. 14
2. Dangermuffin – Mystery Repeating – Moonscapes
3. Lizzy Ross Band – Needle and Thread – Read Me Out Loud
4. Allen Thompson Band – The Purple Rose And The Black Balloon – Salvation in the Ground
5. Electric Chameleon – Release – The Root
6. The Bastards of Fate – The Sweet Touch – Who’s a Fuzzy Buddy
7. Janis Martin- Drugstore Rock ‘N’ Roll – Virginia Rocks! The History of Rockabilly in the Commonowealth
8. Eternal Summers – Millions – Correct Behavior
9. The Floorboards – Cecelia – The Floorboards
10. The Black Twig Pickers – Little Rose – Rough Carpenters
11. James McMurtry – Hurricane Party – Live in Europe
12. The Lee Boys  – Tribute to Calvin Cooke Jam – 2007 Telluride Blues & Brews

About this blog

cutNscratch is The Roanoke Times music blog. Music reporter Tad Dickens enjoys pickin' and grinnin' and drummin', and he likes to write about music, too. He'll post plenty about local, regional and national music, but it won't be any fun at all if you don't jump in and have your say. So do it!
