As I put together this week’s Hit The Road listings for Thursday’s Inside Out, I saw that compiler William Andrews had seen my note to check out The Hot Spot, a new joint in Waynesboro. I haven’t been there, and I have no idea what it’s like inside or out. But I know when a venue is trying to bring quality music, and this one definitely is trying to do that.

On Friday, the night before Jeff Sipe Trio hits Martin’s Downtown, it plays The Hot Spot. Roanoke’s own Atoadaso opens for The Deems on Saturday. And looking a little further ahead, the great Mike Dillon Band plays the joint on Feb. 25. Check out what’s coming up at The Hot Spot. Looks like it could make for a cool road trip.

Wonder why these artists are all skipping roanoke? There are plenty of venues here to accommodate all or most of them.

Marla Palma Band has played in the Roanoke area at the Pomegranate in Troutville and at the Coffee Pot. Watch for further dates for this band at Roanoke area venues. Next appearance at the Hot Spot is June 13th.

About this blog

cutNscratch is The Roanoke Times music blog. Music reporter Tad Dickens enjoys pickin' and grinnin' and drummin', and he likes to write about music, too. He'll post plenty about local, regional and national music, but it won't be any fun at all if you don't jump in and have your say. So do it!
