FloydFest organizers announced this afternoon that festival favorite Old Crow Medicine Show has been added to the bill again this year.

Last time the act was at FloydFest, Willie Watson was still a member. He has left, replaced by a onetime Floyd County resident, Chance McCoy. We did a story on former Old Sledge member McCoy before Old Crow played Salem Civic Center last August. Don’t bother hitting the podcast link there, because our new beta site has wiped them out for the time being. We’re hoping to get that fixed soon.

Anyway, McCoy, Ketch Secor and the rest of the Old Crow guys did a good show in Salem. Here’s the review of that show, which featured an opening set by another upcoming FloydFest performer, The Lumineers.

FloydFest has announced additions to an already intriguing lineup, with folk-rockers Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, roots legacy act Hot Tuna, red-hot ‘grassers The Infamous Stringdusters, roots mashers The Devil Makes Three, blues-rockers North Mississippi Allstars, rock cellist Ben Sollee, African rock/world guitarist Bombino and DJ/producer/remixer Gigamesh now on the bill.

In other FloydFest news, the event is again hosting its Soundcheck shows in Charlottesville. In this case, that means Railroad Earth on Feb. 7-8 at Jefferson Theater.

And now, let’s check out an Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros video for “Fiya Wata.”

The headliners to this point include several past FloydFest acts –  Yonder Mountain String Band, Trampled by Turtles and Railroad Earth — as well as John Butler Trio.

Other highlights include Larry and His Flask, Blitzen Trapper, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Delta Rae and two acts from last year’s Under the Radar contest– Megan Jean and the KFB and Primate Fiasco.
